About Us

The existing female voice Glaslinn Choir was formed in 2005. However it has its roots in a community choir that was set up in the late 1960's. (See here for an account of the history of the choir).

The choir is based in Bandon but draws members from many parts of Cork. At present our membership stands at over thirty-five.

Our repertoire is varied and includes Classical, Religious, Popular and Traditional music. We perform regularly at many concerts, fundraisers and cultural events in the West Cork area and have also had great success in choral competitions in recent years.

In 2012 the choir had a very successful trip to Vienna and in April 2016 travelled to Berlin to take part in an International Choral Festival there.

The Choir celebrated its 50th birthday in 2019. It marked the occasion by commissioning a piece of jewellery, participating in a Choral Festival in Amsterdam and holding a gala charity concert in Bandon in May.

There is a strong social element to the choir and a very friendly atmosphere prevails. New members are always welcome.

Antoinette Baker

Antoinette originally joined the choir as the accompanist and was subsequently appointed Musical Director in 2006. Since then, under her gifted and enthusiastic stewardship, the choir has gone from strength to strength.

Antoinette is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin in Music and Irish. In addition she received an MA in Organ Performance from St Patrick's College Maynooth. Antoinette also holds several diplomas in piano and organ including a Fellowship of Trinity College London.

Antoinette has held posts as organist in St Aidan’s Cathedral, Enniscorthy and St Peter’s Church, Bandon.

At present she teaches piano with the Cork ETB School of Music at Clonakilty and Bandon centres.
